Journey Through the Chakras
This time of lockdown has been one of internal reflection, and after the initial shock to the system, it was a case of sinking into the home space & enjoying the garden. Gradually I was able to take the time saved from travelling around to spend on my art practice. Working in my studio I found that the experience of drawing in, like many gave rise to much contemplation and restoration. I had time to recognise how I really want to spend my time, much of which was living more mindfully. In this time I decided I wanted to return to some yoga practice and within that found a wealth of opportunity. Not only was it good to stretch my body in meditation but I began to learn about the art of sacred geometry. Once learning the creation of structures within a circle, and certain symbols relating to the Sanskrit language I found a freedom to create within the small space of the page.

It was a joy to absorb the colours associated with each chakra and for the week that I painted each chakra starting from the base sacral muladhara chakra. I loved painting all of the chakras but must say I felt a sense of jubilation and love for the crown chakra aptly completed on mid summer's day-the longest day here in the northern hemisphere, when the natural world is just rising and bursting with life.
